ABOUT US The Chico Yacht Club was first formed in 1973 as Fleet 1, Area II of the North American Sailing Association, an organization based on the ownership of Coastal Recreation sailboats (example- Aquarius 23). In 1982 the group changed its name to Chico Yacht Club and opened its membership to all types of sailboats. A relic of those early days remains on our club burgee, the single and double slashes which were changed to mean "one if by land and two if by sea".The club usually meets on the last Monday of the month at 6:00 at members' homes or public places with refreshments. Following the business meeting, a short informative presentation may be given on a topic of interest to sailors. The club often holds social get-togethers in restaurants in the middle of the month (mid-monthlies).

JOINING The best place to start is by talking to members-- sending emails to some officers. Then, go to a meeting or event. If you have interest in sailing or want to learn, we'd love to have you. Many of our members are teachers, expert in sharing knowledge and fun. Yearly dues are nominal and there is no initiation fee.
